Costa Rica climate is Diverse and Varied

The Costa Rican climate, even though the country it is considered a small country is diverse and varied. There are a lot of things going on if one will consider the weather conditions of Costa Rica. The country is divided into a number of individually distinct climatic zones.

Costa Rica, because it is near the equator is generally regarded as a tropical country. There is no real winter here, and the sun continues to shine throughout the year, except when there are tropical rains. There is approximately 12 hours of sunshine every day with the sun rising around 5 am and setting at 6 pm regularly with little variation all through the year.

The various elevations in the different areas of the country are the main reason for the different weather conditions all over Costa Rica. A classic example is Guanacaste sitting in the lowlands with its dry arid climate; and the city of Monteverde high up the mountains which is foggy and misty all through the year because of its high elevation. The best climate in the whole of the country can be found in the Central Valley of San Jose with an average temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit or 22 degrees Celsius. This temperature is comfortably complemented with regular cool coastal breezes. The highland temperature is 13 degree Celsius on the average while at sea level or in the lowlands, the temperature generally stays at 79 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 degrees Celsius, making the days sultry and hot.

It is best to stay in San Jose when you are on your Costa Rica vacation. The Costa Rican Condo provides modern luxurious accommodation at an affordable price in the heart of San Jose. You can stay in this Hotel Costa Rica and arrange your trips all around the country exploring its flora and fauna and sampling its gastronomic delights. The average annual temperature of the whole country is 70-81 degrees Fahrenheit or 21-27 degrees Celsius. The coolest months in Costa Rica are November to January. March to May is the hottest months. Visitors are advised to bring sun blocks and other protection from the rays of the sun.

In Costa Rica, the summer is not like it is in North America and the rainy season lasts many months from May to November. The months of December to April have little or no rain at all and the heavy rain falls from September to October. The country’s average rainfall is about 100 inches but in the mountainous areas, they get as much as 25 feet of rainfall every year. The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica has its own unique microclimate and visitors have to remember to keep this in mind, lest they get caught unprepared. The tradewinds keep the weather there hot and very humid, so it rains very often and even during the supposedly dry season, it might rain heavily and unexpectedly.

The North Pacific Coast, Nicoya Peninsula, Central Pacific Coast, Central Valley, Osa Peninsula & Drake Bay, San Jose Highlands, San Jose Metro and the airport area, Southern Costa Rica with Golfito and the Rincon dela Vieja Area all share the High or Dry Season from December to April and the Green or Rainy Season from May to November. The Arenal Volcano & Northern Lowlands experience the High or Dry Season from May to November and the Rainy Season from December to April. The Monteverde Area’s Dry Season is January to May and the Rainy Season from June to September with November to December extremely windy. The Caribbean North and South experiences Dry Season from February to March and September to October and the Rainy Season from November to January and April to August.
